Whistling sound when changing a keg

What to check if your CO₂ gauge hisses after connecting a new keg.

Written by Bram Sol

What is happening?

Do you hear a short hissing sound near the CO₂ gauge after changing a keg? In most cases, this is not a problem. The new keg is being pressurized and filled with CO₂.

This sound should stop by itself after a few seconds.

Does the whistling continue?

Please check the following points:

  1. Is the new keg connected properly?
Check whether the coupler is securely attached and correctly connected.

  2. Is there a leak in the CO₂ line?
If needed, apply a small amount of water mixed with dish soap to the couplings and lines. If bubbles appear, there may be a leak.

  3. Is there any visible damage to the pressure regulator or CO₂ system?
Check whether there is any visible damage to the pressure regulator, hoses, or connections.

What should you do in case of a leak or defect?

If you find a leak or notice a defect:

  1. Close all taps.

  2. Block the item on the POS so it can no longer be sold temporarily.
Move the toggle to the left and synchronize the settings.

  3. Contact your hospitality service partner for inspection or repair.
